Is your pet lost?

Check at the Southern Brazoria County Animal Shelter every two or three days, and fill out a Lost Pet form to post on our bulletin board. Below are some tips for finding your pet, but also see below for other shelters.

Did you find a pet?

First check for identification. If the pet has a rabies tag, you can call the veterinary hospital’s phone number that is on the tag. Take the pet to a shelter or veterinary office and have it scanned for a microchip.

Tip 1

Make sure you always include good contact information. A mobile phone number is usually the best way for people to reach you.

Tip 2

The Facts newspaper runs free lost and found pet ads. Call them at 979-265-7401.

Tip 3

Post on Facebook! Post it on your own page and ask your friends to share.

Teen and child volunteer guidelines

Please read the details below on children volunteers and the guidelines associated.

13 +

Teens age 13 and older are welcome to volunteer without adult supervision. However, we ask that a parent or guardian attend a Volunteer Orientation with your teen prior to volunteering.

11 and 12

Eleven and Twelve-Year-Olds must complete twenty volunteer hours with adult supervision (a parent or guardian 18 years or older) prior to volunteering without an adult. After twenty hours, we will work with the child volunteers’ parent or guardian to assess whether the child volunteer is ready to work unsupervised.

10 and under

Children who are ten and under are welcome to volunteer, but must be supervised by an adult at all times.
